This rare and collectable bottle of Park & Tilford Private Stock is likely to have been bottled in the 1960s. It is a piece of American whisky-making history.

Park & Tilford were an almost fleeting player in the US whisky producing industry. The history of the brand dates back to 1840 when farmer's son Joseph Park and clergyman's son John Tilford opened a shop in New York that specialised in high quality imports. They sold things like perfumes and alcohol.

They developed the business and opened new stores, with the result being a successful, and saleable company. In 1923 the company was bought by David Schulte who, in the early 1940s, diversified and bought several distilleries.

The company remained under the control of the Schulte family until 1958 when it came under the complete control of Schenley. Throughout the decade we think this bottle was produced, the 1960s, Park & Tilford was owned by Schenley (in 1987 Schenley was acquired by National Distillers).
