This is a collector's Old Grand Dad that was produced in 1978 and bottled in bond. Bottled in bond is a set of legal regulations introduced in the late 1800s to assure consumers of the quality of the US whiskey they were buying.

So, this Old Grand Dad is the product of one distillation season and was made by one distiller and one distillery, i.e. it is not blended from different distillations. The distilled whiskey was then aged in a warehouse under US government supervision for a minimum of 4 years. It was then bottled at 100 proof (50% ABV).

Old Grand Dad is owned today by Fortune Brands whose parent company is the massive Beam corporation. In 1978 when this version was produced, Old Grand Dad was owned by National Distillers, a drinks' company who made a significant impact on the US whisky industry in the later half of the 20th century.

A quick note on the bourbon whisky itself - Old Grand Dad is renowned for having a high rye content which gives it a spicy kick.
