Old Fitzgerald is a brand of bourbon whisky that has been around since the late 1800s. For much of the 20th century, it was owned and produced by Stitzel-Weller, having been sold to them at the end of years of US prohibition.

This example is a 6 Year Old bottle of Old Fizgerald that was bottled in the 1970s. This was a time of change for the distillery, and the company who produced Old Fitzgerald. In 1972, Stitzel-Weller was sold to a company called Norton-Simon Inc. These new owners dropped the Stitzel-Weller name in favour of Old Fitzgerald. This was done because Old Fitzgerald was the best selling of the distillery's brands at that time.

The Norton-Simon Inc ownership of Old Fitzgerald was short lived. The company was bought by DLC in 1984, which in turn was amalgamated with Guinness in 1986. So this example is a bottle of Old Fitzgerald produced during a unique phase of its long history.
