W L Weller 7 Year Old is part of a range of bourbon whiskies from Buffalo Trace that are all about wheat. Most bourbon is made with rye as one of the ingredients in the recipe. W L Weller used wheat instead.

This all comes from a distiller who lived from 1825 to 1899. William Larue Weller is believed to have been the first distiller to have produced whisky using wheat instead of rye. He is said to have done this in 1849 when he was just 24.

Seven years in a barrel helps make W L Weller 7 Year Old a smooth bourbon whisky, but most of the taste and experience is down to the wheat.
