This Old Sunny Brook 4 Old was bottled in the 1980s. The brand Old Sunny Brook dates back to before the prohibition era in the US, but it does not exist anymore.

The brand was owned by National Distillers. They produced other bourbon whiskies, some of which still exist today like Old Grand Dad and Bourbon DeLuxe. National Distillers was bought over by Jim Beam in 1987.

Old Sunny Brook 4 Year Old from the 1980s was therefore distilled and aged by National Distillers, and probably bottled by them as well.

We have not tried it but it is reportedly quite good even though it was not a premium-type bourbon whisky. Given its history it makes a great collectors’ item – if you can stand the strange looking guy wearing an even stranger looking uniform on the label. He is supposed to be National Distillers’ “Guardian of Quality”. You will not see anything like that on shop shelves today!
