George T Stagg 2011

George T Stagg 2011 bourbon whisky

The Whisky Exchange

•    “Number one spirit in the world”
•    Unfiltered, uncut and from a very small batch
•    Stunning
•    ABV 71.3%, 75cl

George T Stagg is a limited edition, uncut and unfiltered bourbon whisky released by the Buffalo Trace Distillery once a year as part of its Antique Collection.

This is the 2011 edition, and it is stunning. It was the deserving winner of the best bourbon award at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. It has also picked up many other accolades including (controversially some say) being named the best spirit in the world by The Spirit Journal, i.e. better even than Highland Park 18 Scotch Whisky. It is the first American whisky to receive this honour.

George T Stagg 2011 is made from 124 barrels distilled in the winter of 1993. That puts the age at 18 years and 5 months. The whisky came out of the barrels for unfiltered bottling at 142.6 proof (ABV 71.3%).

This is a huge, multi-layered bourbon whisky. Think espresso, chocolate, vanilla; and a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
