The Whisky Exchange

•    Unabashed rye
•    Aged 16 years
•    Bold and powerful
•    ABV 46%, 75cl

High West Whisky -- Rocky Mountain Rye 16 Year Old has a mash bill of 80% rye so it is intense. The spiciness is only slightly tempered by the 10% corn and 10% barley malt that make up the rest of the ingredients.

It is aged for a very long 16 years before being bottled at a healthy ABV 46%. While it is crisp and clean it is also bold and powerful so if you are new to whisky, it is probably best that you try something else before splashing out on this.

For the more experienced, however, add a drop of water and prepare for a no-holds-barred rye experience.

High West, from the state of Utah in the US, is a new producer. It has not been around long enough to sell whisky it has distilled itself (this 16 year old is being bought in while its own stocks mature). It is getting noticed, though, with some striking products.
