Woodford Reserve Sonoma-Cutrer Finish is the second release of the distillery’s Master’s Collection. Woodford Reserve started doing this with Four Grain and a desire to produce bourbon whisky that was innovative and ground-breaking.

Woodford Reserve Sonoma-Cutrer Finish is distilled in copper pot stills. It is then matured in new charred oak barrels before being “finished” in wine barrels. This is the key difference, marking Sonoma-Cutrer Finish as something truly unique. The bourbon whisky spends the final four or five months maturing in a Californian Chardonnay barrel -- specifically a Sonoma-Cutrer Les Pierre barrel.

Woodford Reserve master distiller Chris Morris said: “It is the best of Kentucky married with the finest of Californian wine country.”

This is a very rare bourbon whisky. The first release was limited to just 900 cases and was only sold in a handful of US states.

If you can get your hands on one, the taste has some fruitiness but the masterstroke Woodford Reserve has managed to pull-off with the Sonoma-Cutrer Finish is to ensure the wine flavours are not overpowering.
