William Larue Weller 2009 is an award winning, fantastically strong and simply marvellous bourbon whisky. It is part of the Antique Collection from Buffalo Trace, which is released once a year. This is the fifth year that William Larue Weller has been part of the Collection.

It is bottled at cask strength, hence the not-to-be-underestimated ABV 67.4%. It is small batch, bottled from about 40 barrels that were aged for 11 years.

William Larue Weller is named after a pioneering distiller of the 1800s who used wheat instead of rye as one of his ingredients. That tradition is maintained today so this is a wheated bourbon whisky. That makes for a smooth, more subtle taste with less sharpness or kick.

After the exceptional reviews, William Larue Weller has become increasingly hard to find in the UK, but, if available, expect near-perfect balance and excellence in every drop. More...
