Woodford Reserve is the official bourbon whisky of the Kentucky Derby, one of the most famous horse races in the world. As part of its partnership with the Derby, Woodford Reserve produces a commemorative bottle to mark each race. The first was in 1999.

The 2007 Kentucky Derby was the 133rd time the race was run -- hence the “133” element of the name. The race was won by a horse called Street Sense.

The distillery commissions artists every year to design the commemorative Kentucky Derby bottles. In 2007 the artist was Pam Folson. The bottle depicts two jockeys on horses standing beside well-dressed spectators in Derby hats. In the background is the famous Churchill Downs’ Twin Spires and Grandstand from the racetrack where the Kentucky Derby is run.

This is obviously a collectors’ item and is sought after by enthusiasts and investors. The bourbon itself should not be overlooked, however. Woodford Reserve’s master distiller leads a small team to hand-select every cask that eventually makes its way into the Derby commemorative bottles. So Woodford Reserve Derby 2007 – 133 is good for collecting, but it is also good for drinking. More...
