Japanese bartender wins Maker’s Mark Battle

A Japanese bartender has won Maker’s Mark's first ever Battle of the Best Bartender competition.

Fifteen bartenders from around the world competed in the event held in Lexington, Kentucky, USA. They had to make a new Maker’s Mark cocktail. Some of the ingredients used by the contestants included cucumber syrup and homemade musket balls reduction – whatever that is.

Two bartenders from the UK competed – Chris Lacey from the Bike Shed Theatre Bar in Exeter, and Julian De Feral from Lutyen’s Bar in London.

They were beaten by Kenji Nakamura from Bar Erika in Tokyo who made the Beautiful Dream using Maker’s Mark bourbon whisky, peach liqueur, peach syrup, fresh lemon juice and Aserora Juice.
