Hirsch Kentucky Straight Corn Whisky

The Whisky Exchange

•    Straight corn whiskey
•    At least 80% corn in the mash bill
•    Something different
•    ABV 45%, 75cl

Hirsh Kentucky Straight Corn Whiskey is made using a more traditional method than bourbon. Straight corn recipes are historically older than bourbon, although today it is very rare to find them. Bourbon whisky must have at least 51% corn in the mash bill. Straight corn whisky must have at least 80%.

Hirsh is bottled by Hirsch Distillers of Missouri. It is aged and mellowed in oak barrels and is bottled at 90 proof (ABV 45%). Its appearance is much lighter in colour than other types whisky – more straw yellow.

It is a break from the norm but is a smooth drink with an unsurprisingly mellow-corn taste. More...
