Maker’s Mark is a premium bourbon whisky with many characteristics that set it apart from others in this price range.

The water used in its production is limestone spring water that comes from a 10-acre iron-free lake on the site of the Maker’s Mark Distillery. The grains used are yellow corn, red winter wheat and naturally malted barley. Rye is not used but wheat used instead gives the bourbon a softer and mellower taste.

The grain is then rolled rather than hammered, a process which is slower and less efficient but is kinder to the grain. The whisky is then distilled in an old copper doubler still to a lower proof than any other bourbon made today. Again, this is done to enhance and preserve the mellow character.

Finally, the distilled spirit is aged for eight years in charred oak barrels that rotate in the warehouse ensuring each barrel has the same aging experience.

Smooth and mellow bourbon whisky is what Maker’s Mark is all about and it achieves this superbly. More...
