The distinctive and smooth taste so familiar with Jack Daniel's is achieved by charcoal mellowing. This involves dripping the whisky through 10 feet of charred sugar maple over a period of about 10 days. With Gentleman Jack, the whisky is charcoal mellowed twice, once before the aging process and once after.

The ingredients are the same as in the original Jack Daniel’s but the process of double filtering creates a whisky that is more refined.

Gentleman Jack is a relatively new whisky. While Jack Daniel himself experimented with double filtering in the early 1900s, the Jack Daniel’s Distillery did not start producing Gentleman Jack until 1988. It was the distillery’s first new whisky in over 100 years.

Gentleman Jack is more expensive but it is worth it for the extra smoothness and the rich taste. It is only a few pounds more, but the whisky is much more special. More...
